Carmelita-Mirador Circuit

Wakná

It is a newly discovered Middle Preclassic archeological site (800 BC) with a size as Tikal, but which has not been studied and is where archaeologists discovered a looted tomb, with Middle- Classic, early inscriptions hidden in the walls of the tomb. The first season of systematic excavations were carried out in 2002 and they are firsthand discoveries.

There are ball games, a large E group of about 400 meters long and mural paintings, these paintings are similar to those of San Bartolo, at the beginnings of the Late Preclassic (300 a.C.) located in the Southern part of Mirador and in the Northeastern part of El Tintal and Xunal Archaeological Site.
